Two young Newark Athletic Club members starred on the big stage over the weekend
Two of Newarks young athletic stars pitted themselves against the best in Britain when they raced in the European cross country trials at a cold (max 3deg C all day),frosty and foggy Sefton Park in Liverpool although the underfoot conditions were relatively firm and fast.
Olivia Mathias running in the combined u17/u20 womens race finished 33rd overall and 22nd in her age group in a time of 15min 43secs for the 4.4km course.
In the u23 /senior mens race running against Olympians , Commonwealth representatives and European medallists Linton Taylor finished in a magnificent 58th position overall and 22nd u23 in a time of 31min 03 secs for the 9.8km course
