Newark Athletic Club

Summer season but not summer weather

The first round of the Notts AAA summer league took place around the Hexgreave Hall estate over a 5mile course. Newark AC had 13 athletes involved raging in age from from 17 to 70. The men finished in 12th and the ladies 6th. Outstanding performance was by Cloe Hubbard who won the ladies race by 41 secs and was the first Newark athlete to finish.

Club President Gareth Bagguley tells us he managed to get round on Wednesday night thus maintaining having competed for Newark AC at least once every year since 1971, and in that time he has never been beaten by a 6th month pregnant lady, until he came up against Becky!

The mini leaguers u11/u13/u15 open their campaign on Saturday at Bingham and the u17/u20 will be at Tipton on Sunday in a joint team with Worksop and Retford.
