Newark Striders

A capital weekend

We begin this week with marathon news, starting in the capital where Mark Jackson, Mary Swindles, Kath Scott and Sarah-Jane Cobb took on the iconic Virgin London Marathon. Mark finished in 3:30:01, Mary running for the MS Society 4:36:48, Kath 4:47:15 PB and Sarah-Jane 5:24:13 PB.

Meanwhile in Lancashire, 7 Newark Striders completed the Blackpool Marathon. Noel Henderson finished in 3:42:40 first in age category, Nicole Henderson 4:56:47 PB, Karen Illsley 4:57:56 PB and Heather Green 5:27:56 PB, both in their first marathon. Sara Whittaker, running with Heather 5:27:57 and Matt Patterson 5:33:16.

At Thoresby, Adam Jackson was 3rd overall and 1st in age category in the Longhorn 60K ultra with a time of 5:29:55. 5 Striders were in the Longhorn 10K. Ruth Tall 1:08:25 PB, Katie Gabbitas 1:09:07, Gemma Latham 1:09:26, Jenny Palmer 1:09:26 running with daughter Charlotte 58:37 and Emma Ashwin 1:21:42. In the 5K event Simon Palmer won his age group in 27:48 running with daughter Emily 27:48.

In the Dark & White Peaks spring series 14.9K at Tideswell, Emma Gilbert earned a Gold timing award with 1:27:40, Becky Clift finished in 2:00:18, Steve Padgett 2:00:25 and Tracey Partridge 2:00:38.

In the Leicester big 10K, Simeon Forrest crossed the line in 46:51 PB and Catherine Davies 56:03 PB.

Kirsty Ballinger ran the Yorkshire Wildlife Park 5K, finishing in 37:10.

Back to Wednesday and a huge turnout of around 39 Striders were at Hexgreave Hall for the first event of the Notts AAA summer series. On Saturday we did Parkruns at Belton House, Fleetwood, Upton Court, Ipswich, Mansfield, Sherwood Pines, Kingston and of course Newark where Anthea Moisey completed her 50th Parkrun.
