Striders brave the rain

21 Newark Striders braved the heavy rain on Wednesday to take part in event 3 of the Notts AAA summer series, a 5 mile race at Holme Pierrepont. In the men's race Lewis Hopkinson placed 18th in 28:27, followed by Simon Roberts 30:42, Matt Silk 31:51, Dave Dews 33:14 and Gary Tasker 34:17. Noel Henderson 35:07, David Fowler 35:20, Mark Turner 35:59, Peter Davis 36:58, Michael Hancock 38:29, Stephen Tomlinson 39:42, Steve White 41:17, Andy Sirrs 43:17 and Jason Priest 43:38. 

In the ladies race Danielle Forsey was 31st in 36:01, Jessica Gordon 38:58, Dawn Hollingworth 44:17, Ruth Mountstevens 44:50, Tracey Partridge 48:53, Lesley Butlin 49:06 and Anthea Moisey 51:33. After 3 races the men's vets are 11th from 22 teams, the ladies vets 9th from 16,  and individually Lewis is 10th overall and 2nd in age category, Danielle Forsey is 14th and Peter Davis leads his age group.

Saturday means Parkrun, and as well as those who ran and volunteered at Newark, we had runners at Belton House, Bestwood Village, Forest Rec, Lincoln, Crosby, Millennium Country and Pontefract.

To Sunday and a group of Striders and family travelled to the Northwest for the Blackpool Music Run, a 10K with live music on the route. Stephen Tomlinson was first to finish, in 27th place with a new PB of 49:18, gun time. Next came Steve White 54:39, Niceeta Padgett 55:47, Charlotte Palmer 55:48 PB, Tracey Partridge 59:54, Tom Jordan 59:55 PB. Tom Cragg was next, 1:02:38 PB in his first 10K race, then Anthea Moisey 1:12:44, Jenny Palmer 1:12:52 and Lisa White 1:23:20.

Meanwhile closer to home, Ted Behl and Michelle Starbuck were running in the Nottingham 10K. 46:07 for Ted and 58:05 for Michelle.
