Parkrunners on tour

We start this week's report with news from the Ashbourne Half Marathon on Sunday. Peter Davis  finished in 1:48:57 on a course that has plenty of elevation. The event also serves as the British Masters Athletic Federation championships and the exciting news is that Peter won the bronze medal in the V65 age category, being passed by the eventual silver medalist only in the last mile.

Steve Martin was also in half marathon action, this time in the Burn Valley Half, which starts and finishes in Masham and has over 1200 FT of 'uphill'. Steve crossed the line in 1:54:33. Also on Sunday, Steve White ran in the 10K event at the Stoke on Trent festival of running, completing it in a watch time of 51:09.

Saturday was Parkrun, and as well as Newark we were at Bushy Park where it all started, Bakewell, Brighton & Hove, Portmuna, Sherwood Pines and 15 went on a club tour to Clifton, where Alison Carman completed her 50th Parkrun.

There was plenty going on earlier in the week. Monday saw Simon Roberts on the track in the 1500M race at the Charnwood AC Open, which he ran in 4:57:14. Race 3 of the HPRC Grand Prix was on Tuesday, a 5K on the Embankment in Nottingham, which David Cross finished in 19:32 PB, Gary Tasker 22:21, Stephen Tomlinson 22:59 PB and Helen McGrory 27:05 PB. The fourth and final race was a 10K at Holme Pierrepont on Thursday evening. David Cross 40:14, Gary Tasker 43:12 and Stephen Tomlinson 49:58. Gary and David completed the entire series.

Well done to all who raced or ran this week, special mentions for those who supported the All Clubs run and to Jason Cobb, who swam cycled and ran the Outlaw Half Holkham.
