Four Newark Striders ran the St Valentines 30K at Stamford, a tough, hilly event. Jan Bailey was pushing hard to get inside 2 hrs after recording 2:00:17 last year but ultimately a touch of cramp saw him finish with 2:00:08, always next year Jan. Simon Roberts had a strong run with 2:14:53, as did Philippa Clarke 2:34:04 and Stacey Atkins 3:26:40.

Meanwhile, Jean Louis Balestra, Steve Martin and Mary Swindles were competing from Prestwold Hall in the Leicestershire Half Marathon. Jean Louis was first in with 1:33:29, followed by Steve in 1:51:40 and Mary in 2:01:16, a PB for recent times.

Well done to everyone who ran or supported this weekend.
