A busy weekend of tennis saw two victories for Newark

A busy weekend for Newark Tennis Club and a chance to blood some new pairings;

Starting with the men’s twos and a visit to East Bridgford. The first pairing of Mal Langley and Joe Murphy dominated their opponents 3rd pair 11-1 but had to settle for 6-6 in their other matches. Adrian Smith and John Jessop also got 6-6 against EB 1st but then won 8-4, 7-5. The Newark 3rd pair of Murray Bacon and Vince Bashforth, rounded off with a further 14 games for the team taking the overall match 58-50.

Murphy & Smith were back in action again on Sunday at home as mixed 1st welcomed David Lloyd West Bridgford to Newark's blustery courts. Adrian and Steph Smith taking 21 games for the team being most successful against DLWB 1st pair (9-3). Tony Gammage was drafted in & with partner Sara Jackson took 20 games, 10 of these against DLWB 3rd pair. Murphy and Tamara Bainbridge dominated against all pairs but some tough windy conditions meant for a 6-6 in one round after 9-3 wins on their others. The 65-43 win makes it 3 wins into their Division Seven winter campaign and sees the team sitting top with 3 games remaining.
