A mixed week

Newark Lawn Tennis Clubs Mixed 2nd team have had mixed fortunes in their last 2 matches. On Sat 20th three strong pairs travelled to Grantham and came home with a 68-40 victory.

The 1st pair of Joseph Philip Mounsteven Murphy and Katrina Dines set the trend with a twenty seven points to nine victory, the second pairing of  Tamara Bainbridge and Rich Hall won by twenty six points to ten and to complete a clean sweep Jill Pindar and Sam Butler returned a twenty one - fifteen victory.

On Sat 26th a slightly different team welcomed Sutton in Ashfield to the Newark courts. Murphy and Dines acting as 1st pair again were strong and won by twenty four points to twelve, the second pair of  Murray Bacon and Sue Bilton tied eighteen points each in a wonderfully contested match. This time the third pair of Mal Langley and Jill Pinder could not get the home club over the line going down twenty seven - nine making a close finish with a six point losing margin of fifty seven points to fifty one.
