Newark Town FC are sad to report that Tony Joynes has stepped down as first team manager.

Tony feels that he has taken the club as far as he possibly can and this, combined with pressure of work, has resulted in his decision which he has taken with great regret and a heavy heart .

The club wish to place on record their total appreciation for what Tony has done and achieved since he first took on the manager's role with Brett McNamara when the club joined the Central Midlands League in 2004. Everyone connected with Newark Town wishes him the very best for the future.

Over three separate periods at the helm, Tony has shown total commitment to the club, often under difficult circumstances.

Newark Town have now cancelled their scheduled friendly tomorrow at Pinxton.
