A small band of Newark athletes were in action at the Nottinghamshire championships and the Lincolnshire championships.

At the Notts champs star of the weekend was Craig Rodwell who entered 5 events and won gold at 5 events. He set a new championship best performance (CBP) in discus 33.38m, recorded a distance of 34.96m in the vets hammer and 10.04m in the shot. In the senior mens events he threw the discus 32.04m and the shot 9.77m.

Anna Smith set a new CBP in the u17 womens 800m taking 1.5 sec off the old record with a time of 2min 10.62 secs she also won the 1500m in a time of 4min 37.50 secs some 9.5secs clear of second.

Ben Smith won u15 boys 800m in a time of 2min 11.85 secs and was second in the 1500m in a time of 4min 30.87 secs

Amelia Chrispin won the u13 girls 1500m in 5 min 15.09 secs

The senior mens 1500m was won by Oliver Carrington in a time of 4 min 10.65 secs

Luke Sayer had a busy weekend competing in the u17 mens events gaining silver medals at discus 24.29m , 400m 54.42 secs, pole vault 2.30m, 400m hurdles 66.96 secs, bronze in the javelin 31.24m and a 4th place in the shot 8.00m

Katie Mackintosh finished second u17 womens 300m hurdles in 46.67 sec and was 5th in the high jump 1.35m

Tom Braithwaite finished 10th in u15 boys 1500m in 5min 19.29 secs

 

At the Lincs champs it was mainly a family Owens affair with the addition of Catherine Booth.

Catherine finished 2nd in her very first 3000m in a time 12min 29.6 secs

Twins Tilley and Lauren competing in u17w 300m hurdles had a 1-2 Tilley winning in 52.1 sec to Lauren 54.3 sec. Tilley won high jump 1.35m and was 2nd in long jump and Lauren won Pole vault with a height of 2.70m and finished 2nd in 80m hurdles in 15.7 secs.

Not to be out done dad Gareth won vets 400m in 60.3 secs and was 2nd in the 800m in 2min 24.1
