Notfast News

Notfast Running Club

37 NOTFAST members took part in Parkruns this week, with runners at Newark and Clumber Park. Adam Holland took part in the Warrington Parkrun prior to his other event of the day, and came in first. There were Parkrun PBs this week for Nick Rayns, Lisa Tindall, Lacey Simons, and Dianne Kennett.

This Saturday Adam Holland took part in the inaugural Winter Track Marathon in Warrington. The conditions were not very favourable at all, and Adam started out well, but began to slow around the 14/15 mile point. Although it wasn’t the time he was hoping for, he still came in first place with a time of 2:45:28.

Also on Saturday, 9 NOTFAST members took on the Belvoir Challenge at Harby, Leicestershire. Over either 15 or 26 miles for both runners and walkers, the course was definitely called a challenge for a reason, with some extremely steep and slippery hills, and mainly through muddy farmland. The course was one of the best catered courses around, with the whole village making cakes, soup, snacks and sandwiches for the participants. On the 15-mile course, Simon Lock was the first NOTFAST member back in 2:43:29, followed by Matt Gascoigne (3:09:20), Angela Brown (3:49:27), Faye Hemingway(3:49:31), David Gill (5:17:40), Julie Mumby (5:25:42), and Adrian Mumby(5:25:43). On the 26-mile course, David Watt completed the course in an excellent 5:09:48, and Liz Walton in 5:46:18.

Rachel Sheldrake was the sole NOTFAST participant in this Saturdays National Cross Country Championships at Wollaton Park in Nottingham. Over the 5.1-mile course, the terrain was a mixture of wet, muddy grass, bogs, ditches, and water to wade through. Being the type of terrain that Rachel thrives on, she finished in a creditable time of 53:43.

On Sunday, 3 NOTFAST members took part in the Clough-Taylor run at Holme Pierpont in Nottingham, which is 10K course around the Holme Pierpont site, and the day also brought some brutal winds. Andy Floydcompleted the course in 1:16:10, Bob Oakham in 1:29:47, and Beth Websterin 1:34:10

Sunday also saw some NOTFAST runners join Dave Tilley of Newark Striders on his Tilly’s 26.2 Kilomathon. Starting in Fernwood, the route went out though Hollowdyke Lane to Balderton and then Coddington. A loop through Stapleford Woods, back through Coddington and Beacon Hill, along the Cycle route, and back along Staple Lane to the Tawny Owl at the finish. The feedback was that it was very well organised, and thoroughly enjoyed by all who took part.
