Notfast Running Club

46 NOTFAST members took part in Parkruns this week, with runners at Newark, Sherwood Pines, Rushcliffe and Clumber Park. John Miller took Parkrun tourism to a new level by taking part in the Parkrun du Monsouris in France! There were Parkrun PBs this week for Rachel Sheldrake, Andrew Jenkinson, Chantelle Hallam, Lacey Simons, Sam Moyses, Lynne Hare and Camilla Grant.

On Saturday, Caroline Upton took part in the first of the Punk Panther Ultra series in Yorkshire. This was a 37.1 mile course across the Yorkshire dales, which would have been a very gruelling challenging. First in her age group, Caroline finished in an excellent 7hrs 50minutes.

This Sunday, John Miller took part in the Paris half marathon. It was a very wet run with over 38,000 runners, and John managed to complete the course in 2:20:50

Newton’s Fraction half marathon in Grantham was the destination for 9 NOTFAST runners this weekend. Unfortunately, Elizabeth Webster had to pull out injured during the race, but Adam Holland won the event with a new Half Marathon PB of 1:12:27, followed by Damien Davies (1:27:57) in 29thplace, Darren Wilkinson (1:48:44), Janet Davies (1:58:37), Steve Needham(2:00:32), Marilyn Hatherley (2:02:08), Netty Stevens (2:04:12) and Sue Needham (2:24:14)

There were also a number of NOTFAST members at the East Midlands 10K at Holme Pierpont on Sunday. Despite the wet and windy conditions, Piotr Durafinished in 41:31, followed by Kimberley Etherington-Bates (49:36, and new PB), John Geeson (58:01), Chris Redhead (58:07), Fay Paterson (1:05:36) and Claire Simmonds (1:08:28, and first 10K)

Also on Sunday, 5 NOTFAST members went to Derbyshire for the Ashbourne 10. Very wet conditions, and the course was “out-and-back”, with the out all uphill. Adrian Dix came 5th overall in the 10 mile race in 1:07:51, with Simon Lock also finishing in 1:24:32. In the 10K race, Andrew Rowlands completed the course in 51:58 in 17th place, followed by Lisa Needham Leach (1:11:19), and Stuart Chase (1:18:23)

Cheryl Kempster took part in the LDWA organised Chiltern Kanter on Sunday, which involved being given a series of grid references to plot on a map, and then answer a question to find the route. The course was very wet and muddy, and, according to the official certificate, Cheryl completed the 13 mile course in 3hrs 52minutes.
