Notfast News

Notfast Running Club

34 NOTFAST members took part in Parkruns this week, with runners at Newark, Belton House, and Beeston. Steve and Sue Needham were in Jersey for an event this weekend, and completed the Parkrun event there. Colin Green was taking part in his landmark 100th Parkrun this week at Newark. There were Parkrun PBs this week for Sue Stott, Simon Ecclestone, Andrew Jenkinson, Kirsty Abbotts, Camilla Grant, Steve Needham and Lynne Hare.

On Saturday, NOTFAST took a male and 2 female teams to the Ed PrickettRelays in Nottingham. These are 2.3 mile laps against other teams from the Nottinghamshire area, held at the Nottingham University site. NOTFAST came 21st in the men’s event, while the ladies’ teams came in in 9th and 10th places overall.

4 NOTFAST members were at the Charnwood Marathon on Saturday, hosted by the LDWA. This is an event where instructions are provided to follow rather than a completely marked out course. Adam Holland decided to do the 15-mile event due to work commitments, and tracked alongside the leader for the majority of the race, to ensure that the LDWA instructions were followed, and came in joint first in a time of 2:04. Stuart Ashley completed the marathon course, and despite light rain throughout the day, he completed the 27.5-mile course in 8:09. David Watt finished the 27 mile distance in 5:20, with Liz Walton, also completing the 27 mile course in 6:04.

Also on Saturday, Peter Lane took part in the Catmel Trail race in the Lake district. This was a challenging trail run, over 5k, 10k or 18k. Peter opted for the 10K option (although was more like 12k!). Although he lost some time helping a fellow runner retrieve a shoe from the mud, Peter came in a very respectable 1:03, a full 22 minutes faster than the previous year!

Sue and Steve Needham were over in Jersey for the Resolution Run; a 10K event around the track of the Les Landes racecourse. Steve completed the course in 58:49, and Sue in 1:12:18.

The Ashby 20 was run on Sunday with a good representation from NOTFAST. This is a 2 lap road race of 10 miles each in the heart of Leicestershire, with some tough hills to contend with. The event was well organised, and the hoodie for all finishers went down well. Adrian Dix completed the course in 2:28:02, followed by Claire Wood (3:01:58), and Netty Stevens (3:25:18, when aiming for under 4 hours).

On Sunday, Adam Holland competed in the Keyworth trail run, a new event with 15 and 30K options on the outskirts of Nottingham. The organisers did an excellent job, and Adam went out on his own very early on the 30K route. Although feeling mentally tired, he came in first place in around 2:28.
