Notfast News

A massive weekend for the team in yellow

38 NOTFAST members took part in Parkruns this week, with many running various Parkruns in London due to marathon weekend. Parkrun PBs for Adam Holland, Lynn Gascoigne, Gill Oxley, Fay Paterson, Lacey Simons, and Stevie Jackson.

Last Wednesday, it was the return of the East Midlands Summer League, the first of which being Hexgrave Park. This is a private estate that is opened up to the local community once a year for this event, and consists of trails and tracks. NOTFAST brought 57 runners, a massive new record for a summer league event.

Sunday brought many events for NOTFAST. Two members completed the Trust 10 at Clumber park; a free 10K trail race run by the National Trust monthly. Nikki Dales completed her first 10K and was helped by Peter Middleton.

NOTFAST also descended on the Longhorn. This is an event over various distances on trails and tracks around the Thoresby Estate, incorporating many hills. Highlights include Adrian Dix coming 5th in the 10K event, Richard Hallam coming 13th in the Half Marathon, New PBs for Andy Rowlands and Peter Lane, and Annette Taylor coming first in her age category.

NOTFAST were also out in force at the Orston Spring Dash. This local 10K event is run over mixed terrain, and is always very well supported by the local clubs, with cake and a medal for the finishers.

Last, and certainly not least were the NOTFAST runners at the London Marathon. Adam Holland claimed his fastest time in 4 attempts in 2:31:56 and 86th place overall, even though he was battling a stitch for the majority of the event. Piotr Dura finished in a new marathon PB and excellent time of 3:07:14. Damian Davies, who nearly didn’t run due to an Achilles injury picked up the week beforehand, finished in an impressive 3:22:53. Claire Wood had a great run, and completed a sub 4 marathon in 3:58:47. Caroline Upton also had a great run, coming in in 4:24:04. Sue Needham, who came into the marathon through the NOTFAST allotted club place, finished in an excellent 5:19:44, and taking an hour off her previous marathon PB. Faye Hemingway spent most of the way round with an injury her hip and leg still managed to complete the distance in impressive 5:32:06, and finally Netty Stevens, who pulled her hamstring at mile 6, and had to get medical attention, was so determined to complete the course that she managed to walk the final 20 miles with the help of her guide Sheena to ensure that she got her medal in a time of 8:19:00!
