Notfast News

Notfast Running Club

42 NOTFAST members took part in Parkruns this week, at Clumber Park, Rutland Water, Killarney (Rachel Sheldrake in South West Ireland) and Newark. PBs this week for Breeze Rowlands and Jonathan Van-Tam.

On Saturday, Nick Rayns was in Edinburgh to take part in the 10k event at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival. Nick had a great run, coming in in 58:37.

On Sunday, there was a busy day for the NOTFAST group!

In Nottingham, it was the ASDA Nottingham 10K. A new route this year, with 9 members running from NOTFAST. Adam Holland was first back in fourth place in a time of 32:42, and a new PB, followed by Adrian Dix (39:42 and new PB), Gill Oxley (46:45 and new PB) Steven White (48:17), Peter Middleton (51:26), Richard Lamb (52:22), Annette Taylor (57:39), Lynn Baker (1:12:34), Kira Green (1:14:51)

In Manchester, Kimberley Etherington-Bates was running the Great Manchester Run, 10 years since she last completed the event. As well as completing the course in an excellent 52:17, she also got to meet the legendary Seb Coe!

In Liverpool, Angela Brown was taking part in the Rock & Roll Half Marathon. This iconic event is very well supported, and the start was delayed slightly due to extra security at the bag drop, and Angela completed the course in an excellent 2:12:59!

Stuart Ashley took part in the Annual 100 mile walk this weekend; a 100 mile walk over 48 hours, this year through the North Yorkshire moors. Last year, Stuart managed 83 miles before the conditions got the better of him, but unfortunately, this year the conditions were even more arduous. With the heat and humidity that we have experienced over the weekend, Stuart started to struggle at the 20-mile mark, and was unable to take on board the food and liquid needed to have a chance at completing the course. At the 40-mile checkpoint, he rested, but took the sensible and creditable decision to retire rather than risking his health. 493 people started the course, and only 340 managed to complete the full distance in the 48-hour timeframe, proving the difficult nature of this event!
