Notfast Running Club

38 NOTFAST members took part in Parkruns this week, at Belton House, Keswick and Newark. At Newark, it was their 4th anniversary, and also Richard Borrill was celebrating his 100th Parkrun, so there were plenty of flowers on show! PBs this week for Lynn Hare, Lynne Baker and Jonathan Van-Tam.

On Sunday, there was a good showing at the Woodhall Spa 10K, a very scenic and popular event in the Lincolnshire countryside. First back for NOTFAST was Adrian Dix in 38:59 (and a new PB), followed by Andy Rowlands(48:39), Pete Middleton (49:19), Claire Wood (49:37), Stuart Chase (51:48), Kimberley Etherington-Bates (53:43), Annette Taylor (55:02 and 10k PB), Andy Pritchett (58:19), Lisa Leach (1:02:04), Kirsty Watson (1:02:16 and new PB), Fay Paterson (1:03:13 and new PB), Andy Floyd (1:04:18), Faye Hemingway (1:06:21), Claire Simmonds (1:06:26), Jacqui Walton (1:09:03), Victoria Heath (1:10:33), Netty Stevens (1:17:39), James Grand-Scrutton(1:27:05), Chris Mumby (1:27:13). In the 5K event, Breeze Rowlandscompleted the course with her daughter Jess, in 34:32.

Also on Sunday, Steve White was in Cheshire for the Burnley 10k. This is the third time that Steve has run this extremely hilly course, and was aiming to finally run it in under 50 minutes. This year, he managed it, completing the course in 49:16

Simon Ecclestone was in Gloucestershire for the Dymock half marathon. This was described as hilly and undulating, and Simon definitely described the course as “tough!!”, completing it in 1:53:32

Lyn Gascoigne and Matt Gascoigne were in Derby for the Ramathon, a half marathon through the city of Derby. A first half marathon for Lyn, and both ran together in an excellent time of 2:17:59.

Sue Needham and Steve Needham were at Stamford for the Tallington Lakes Triathalon. This is an Olympic distance triathalon, consisting of a 1500m swim, 42km bike ride, and a 10k run. Sue completed the course in 3:52:24, and Steve in 3:27:30, both coming first in their age groups!

Finally, Adam Holland completed his 300th Marathon or Ultra this weekend at the Dartmoor Discovery, in Devon. This is a 32-mile course, and the longest single lap road ultra marathon. Adam took the lead early on, and never looked back. He completed the race in first place, in a time of 3:44:22, a new course best for Adam, and also over 10 minutes ahead of the second place finisher. Afterwards, Adam was also awarded lifetime membership to Tavistock Athletics Club, his hometown club, for his services to running in the Tavistock schools and local area, and the club over his years of affiliation before moving to Newark.
