Notfast Running Club
37 NOTFAST members took part in Parkruns this week, at Crosby, Evesham, Lincoln, Forest Rec and Newark, with PBs this week for Mandy Eccleston and Anna Wilkinson.
On Friday evening, Jeremy Reichelt took part in the Jack Walters Memorial Notts 10-mile road race, held at Holme Pierrepont. Despite the warm evening, Jeremy came back in 1:19:54, and enjoyed the bottle of beer and banana that was presented afterwards.
Gill Goode completed the Samoens 18km trail run on Saturday in 4 hours and 40 minutes. Gill said that although it might have been only 18km, the elevation was equal to 333 flights of stairs. It was also the first time she has had to deal with altitude, the level of heat and the serious risk of dehydration.
Steven White and Chris Mumby were at the Hull 10K. Again, the heat was massive, but both beat expectations, with Steve finishing in 49:34, and Chris in 1:16:30.
NOTFAST were well represented in the Dark Peak Trail Run. In the 12k event (with 856 feet of climbing), Nikki Dales was first back for NOTFAST in 1:41:39, followed by Andy Floyd (1:46:10), Angela Brown (1:46:11), Kirsty Jackson (1:58:03), and Faye Hemingway (1:58:12) In the 25.1K event (with 2024 feet of elevation!), Caroline Upton completed the course in 3:19:48, while Adam Jackson finished in 4:09:21, both after some minor diversions!
Stuart Ashley did the Baslow Bootbash on Saturday, starting at Baslow, through Chatsworth Park and passing through Over Haddon, Sheldon, Foolow, Eyam Froggat Bridge, Calver then a steep climb at 24 miles to Bramley and Bank Woods with a nice decent back to Baslow. A very hot day, and dehydrated at the finish despite the 4 litres of fluid en-route!!The 27 miles completed in 9 hours 35 minutes - about an hour slower than last year probably due to the heat, and a finish position of 92 out of a field of 153. There was also a higher number of retirees than usual so the heat was taking its toll!!
Finally, Adam Holland was at the Rat Race – The Wall, an ultra marathon of 69 miles along and around Hadrian’s wall. As well as the intense heat, Adam took a fall at 41 miles, which badly bruised his leg. Although he thought he may have to walk the remainder, he was able to push through the pain and finish in first place in 10:30:17
