Notfast news

Notfast Running Club

Due to a NOTFAST takeover at Newark Parkrun, there were only 25 members actually running in Parkruns this week, both at Rushcliffe and Newark. At Newark, most of the roles were filled by volunteers from NOTFAST. PBs this week for Camilla Grant and Lynn Hare.

Also taken over this week was the 3rd Nottinghamshire Summer League of 2017. Peter Tatton and NOTFAST stepped in to host the event when it looked as though it may have to be cancelled. This was very successful, and nearly all the club were involved in either marshalling, water stops (very much needed), car parking, or running. A very hot and humid evening, the course went from Flowserve in Newark, out to Cotham village and back again.

On Friday evening, it was the Summer Solstice 10k at Long Bennington, hosted by Grantham running club. Janet Davies, Damian Davies and Caroline Upton ran the Round Sheffield Run on Sunday, which was basically a half marathon in stages, where walking between the stages (or run if u like) the time between the stages doesn't count. The run was around Sheffield's many parks with the walk between the parks. The total distance registered was 14.77 miles. Janet and Damian ran as a pair, and finished in 1:50:53. Caroline ran as a soloist and her time was 2:02.

Also on Sunday was the Collingham Canter, a 5K road race around the Collingham area, that is traditionally a mainstay for the NOTFAST group, and this year was no exception. First back for NOTFAST, and also first vet lady overall was Diana Wakefield in 21:51, followed by Jim Lovett (23:30), Richard Borrill (23:31), Simon Eccleston (24:24), Mandy Eccleston (25:18 and new PB), Peter Middleton (25:33), Kate Fisher (26:30), Claire Wood(29:49), Joanna Gray (30:18), Fay Paterson (31:30), Cath Hare (31:37),Jacqui Walton (33:18), Victoria Heath (34:25), Karen Borrill (35:00), Kate Blair (35:00), Sam Moyses (37:00), Lynn Hare (37:34), Zoe Smith (41:17), and Julie Mumby (41:18)

Finally, Steve Needham and Sue Needham were at the Race to the King Ultra-Marathon this weekend. This goes from Arundel to Winchester across the South Downs Way. It was a very scenic but hilly route with plenty of pit stops, and fortunately for them, the weather was kind.
