Notfast on tour

Notfast Running Club

43 NOTFAST members took part in Parkruns this week, with runners at Newark, Sherwood Pines, Rushcliffe and Belton House. Adam Holland was at the Tamar Trails Parkrun in his hometown of Tavistock, prior to his event on Sunday. There were Parkrun PBs this week for Netty Stevens, Sue Stott, Claire Simmonds, and Sarah Walker.

On Sunday, Adam Holland took part in the Granite Way 20 in Exeter. This was a 2 lap out and back course along the Granite Way cycle path, and Adams first 20-mile event. He went out initially behind the lead runner, but quickly moved ahead, and although hillier than he imagined, and with a headwind for a good few miles, he completed the course ahead of his target time in 1:56:49, 6 minutes ahead of the rest of the field.

Also on Sunday, NOTFAST were involved in various different half marathons.

Peter Middleton was at the Vitality North London Half Marathon, which takes starts and finishes at Wembley stadium, and goes around the roads of North London. Peter was suffering with illness during the run, but still managed to finish in a very respectable 1:58:13, which was 5 minutes quicker than the previous year

Netty Stevens and Kimberley Etherington-Bates were both at the Silverstone Half Marathon. This is run on the racetrack, and badged as a warm-up event for those entering the London Marathon, and has a large entry field. Kimberley completed the race in 2:04:37 in her first half marathon, and Netty was pleased to finish 35 minutes fast than last year in a time of 2:05:05.

16 NOTFAST members took part in the Retford Half Marathon. This was a road race, out to the north-west of Retford and back again, with some hilly sections in the second half. Damian Davis was the first NOTFAST member back in 1:25:29, followed by Adrian Dix (1:28:33), Simon Lock (1:48:46), Martin Dickenson (1:49:26), Jim Lovett (1:50:40), Ben Prince (1:51:50), Gill Oxley (1:53:28), Janet Davies (1:54:44), Claire Wood (1:54:51), Adam Jackson (1:58:19, and new PB), Richard Borrill (2:07:21), Peter Lane(2:07:27), Angela Brown (2:22:33), Kirsty Watson (2:30:22, and new PB), Faye Hemingway (2:32:57), and Gillian Goode (2:52:37and new PB).
