Amelia Chrispin

On Saturday Amelia Chrispin travelled to sunny Northampton to take part in the Duston Junior Triathlon.  This was the second race of seven in the East Midlands Junior Triathlon Series. This race is much shorter than the others in the triathlon series, with only a 150m swim, 2.4km x country bike and a 1.2km run.

Each athlete set off in the pool at 20 seconds intervals so every athlete had somebody to chase! Amelia swam well and left the pool sprinting the 80m to transition and caught the girl in front of her. She quickly put on her trainers, belt, helmet and grabbed her bike for the start of the next section of the race. The bike course was 3 laps and quite difficult to maneuver with the amount of athletes out on the course.  Amelia coped well and  managed to pass quite a few of her competitors and entered transition for the final time in a strong position. She kept up the the intensity, running hard passing more athletes and sprinted across the finish line in 14min 29 seconds. After a short wait whilst the final results came in, Amelia was thrilled to find out she had come 1st girl and 8th overall out of 115 boys and girls. This victory, along with her win in the first series race, means she leads the current East Midlands table with maximum points.
