Amelia Chrispin

On a warm Wednesday (14th June) evening Amelia took part in the 2nd race of the Delta Simmonds Aquathlon Series at Activities Away in Lincoln. This was for athletes aged 8-16 and in total 34 competitors signed up.

Amelia came out of the open water swim in 5th position but after a super fast transition left for the the 2 x 1km run course in 1st position. Five boys left very shortly behind her and formed a chase group.

Amelia ran well and started to pull away from the rest of the field and crossed the line in 1st position, 14 seconds in front of the boy in 2nd place and over a minute ahead of the next nearest girl.

On Sunday (18th June) Amelia travelled to Pugneys Lake in Wakefield to compete in the Wakefield Junior Open Water Triathlon. This race was part of the Yorkshire Regional Junior Triathlon Series.

At 1130, with the mercury touching nearly 28 degrees Amelia entered Pugneys Lake with 54 other eager boys and girls to start the 200m open water swim. She had a strong swim and left the lake as 1st girl, 5th position overall. She quickly discarded her wetsuit, retrieving her bike and started the grass/track 4km bike course. After passing two of the boys on the bike section, she started the 1800m run in 3rd position, 1st girl.

Despite the heat, Amelia still looked strong on the run and maintained her form crossing the line as 1st girl, 3rd overall nearly a minute ahead of the next nearest girl. She then relaxed watching the rest of the racing whilst we all shared a picnic in the beautiful weather.
