Amelia Chrispin
Today (Tuesday 4th July), Amelia represented Worksop College and the Region in the 1500m at the National Prep Schools Athletics Finals at Alexandra Stadium in Birmingham.
Athletes who had pre qualified in regional events, from 22 different schools, took part in the 1500m and it was run in two graded heats of 11 athletes each. Amelia was in the second heat. Amelia was in around 8th place after a very fast 800m, after which she decided to make a decisive move. She pushed the pace and quickly made her way up to the front of the field. She then led the race until the the final 35m, where she was just pipped into 2nd place by less then 1 second. Amelia not only smashed her own PB but beat her own Newark AC U13G 1500m record, she set only a month ago, by 7 seconds with a time of 5min 05.50 seconds. Shortly afterwards she was ecstatic to presented with her National silver medal!
