Robin Hood & a Masters medal

Graham Welsh reports

Three Newark Striders lined up in Nottingham on Sunday for the start of the Robin Hood Half Marathon. Stephen Tomlinson, in his third half marathon this month, was the first to cover the 13.1 miles through the city and Wollaton Park. Tomo knocked nearly 6 minutes off his PB and was tantalisingly close to the magic 2 hour mark with 2:00:35. Dan Endersby was next in, finishing with a time of 2:09:17, followed by Rob Wilkinson in 2:25:09 for a new PB, 6 seconds quicker than the same event last year.

On Saturday Peter Davis was racing in the England Masters Inter-area Cross Country Challenge. With a time of 26.28 he won a bronze medal for third place male vet 65 category in the Eastern Masters AC section.

Mary Swindles and first timers Sally Priest and Jason Cobb were in sprint triathlon action at East Leake. Jason completed the 400 M swim, 20 KM cycle and a 5 KM run in 1:17:10, Mary in 1:32:27 and Sally in 1:56:04.

Continuing the theme but adding dogs to the mix, Clare Stainton and Ian Dobison were in Bedfordshire over the weekend competing in dog triathlon and duathlon. They had a great time and did well in their respective events with a podium place for Ian.

Well done everyone!
