Southwell ladies and Newark men lead the way

At the end of a busy Saturday Southwell Brincliffe ladies and Newark Hockey Club men lead their respective league tables.

All four sides in the promotion race of the Notts Women's Premier Division won with the Minster girls hitting six against Newark 2's. Their goals coming from Helen Kirby 2, Marie Richardson 2, Aly Hobson and Fiona Hextall.

Newark 1's kept up the pressure on their local rivals by hitting six at Redhill, Millie Hill scoring a hat trick with Becky Wells, Chatherine Hawkins and Kate Lambert also finding the net.

A single Scott Robinson goal was enough for Newark men to beat beat placed Nuneaton and with nearest rivals Leicester dropping points at Derby Paul Halfpenny's lads now have now opened a three point lead.

More hockey tomorrow with Newark ladies taking on Manning in the league cup semi final, 2.00pm at the Magnus.
