Grove Squash Club

In division 2 of the Nottinghamshire Squash Leagues 3 wins out of their last 4 matched has seen the first team cement their fourth place position. The results are even more impressive due to number one string Wayne Hiatt only being available for one of them. The 3 wins against Racketeers, University 2 and Trent Bridge and the defeat against David Lloyd 1 saw captain Chris Gibbons remain unbeaten during the spell winning his four games whilst there were 3 wins for Paul Allen and 2 for both Richard Speed and Steve Brown. Barrie Saye produced an impressive result against University 2 by beating world over 75 Masters Champion Adrian Wright. With two games remaining a comfortable mid table position looks secure.

In division 3 the second team are still finding victories hard to come by and remain at the foot of the table. With games coming in quick succession the team lost all five of their latest round of games played. They have not been helped again by injuries and the unavailability of players through work commitments with the main highlight seeing Paul Burrell winning 3 out of his 5 matches to keep his impressive run of form going. With two out of their remaining 3 matches being against the other teams involved in the relegation battle they need to turn their form around if they are not to be relegated.

In division 1 of Lincoln League 2 defeats in their last 3 matches has seen the team slip to 3rd in the table, again injuries are proving costly as they struggle to put their strongest team out. The victory against Lindum C was sandwiched between defeats to Deans Sports and Methringham B. The spell has seen Steve Brown win all his 3 matches whilst Jamie Groden has stepped in with a couple of impressive performances. The title looks to have slipped away but with 5 games left a runner up spot is still on the cards.
