Newark Striders
A massive well done to the 15 Striders who along with the other 59, 985 competitors completed the Great North Run.
GNR is a hugely busy run with a fantastic atmosphere, Striders produced some fantastic results and saw the half marathon club record absolutely smashed by Tom Marshall in a new personal best time of 1:18:57 , there were PB's achieved by Jan Bailey 1:21:56 Simon Palmer 1:34: 43, Gary Hill 1: 45:07 and Sharon Self 2:49: 16.
The first lady to finish was Philippa Clarke 1:46:38 followed by Richard Webster 1:56:36, Andy Scott 1:59:36, Stacey Atkins 2:07: 47, Jacqui Jackson 2:12: 19, Heather Green 2:30:31, Kath Scott 2:34: 00, Lynne Boby 2:34:00, Leisa Pickles 2:36:34 and Anthea Moisey 2: 45:02. And the day was finished off with a lovely catch up and a beer and a catch up with friends.
A total of seven Striders braved the breezy Mablethorpe 10K organised by the friendly Mablethorpe running club. This is a flat race along the Prom from Mablethorpe to Sutton on Sea. The brave team were encouraged by the promise of an Ice cream and two free range eggs in the goody bag.
It was a breezy run with Gary Bourne the first Strider home; followed by Donna Wright, Bernie Dival and Louisa Sibcy. The intrepid team of Sebrina Judge, Paula Nicholson and Tom Stimson soon followed; encouraged by Sebrina’s constant singing of seaside songs including the epic version of “I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts” which had marshalls, spectators and runners alike roaring with laughter.
After the race the Striders relished their ice cream and then headed for the chip shop.

Gary Bourne 48:36, Donna Wright 55:30 PB, Bernie Divall 1:03:55, Louisa Sibcy 1:07: 17, Sebrina Judge 1:16:26, Paula Nicholls 1:17:06 and Tom Stimson 1:18:36.
Strider Matt silk who completed the Vitruvian Triathlon in Leicestershire. Matt finished in a time of 5:14: 50 which comprises of 1900m swim , 85K bike and 21K run.
While in Newark a few Striders bounced their way round the Inflatable 5k run.
