A family day out

Today (Sunday 30th June) we all travelled to Ripon racecourse for Amelia and her little sister Evangeline to take part in the Ripon Junior Triathlon.

Evangeline was off first and after a 100m swim, in blustery conditions, manged to leave for the 1km bike in 2nd place. She enjoyed the bike and left transition for the 600m run in a slim 1st position.  She ran hard and was just pipped into 2nd place by 3 seconds.

Next up was Amelia, the race for her was a Regional Series race and one of the National Qualifiers. She entered the lake with 37 other eager girls for the testing 500m swim. She had a strong swim leaving the lake just behind two other athletes After a slick transition she managed to get out for the 6km bike in 1st position. She never looked back and entered transition for the final time still maintaining her 1st position. She performed really well in the 2.4km run and extended her lead crossing the line in 1st, 50 seconds ahead of her nearest rival. A brilliant 1st place overall and 3rd out of all 88 boys and girls. The win, with two races to go,  puts her in a really strong position to qualify for the IRC National Triathlon Championships at the beginning of September.
