This Weekend’s Sporting Action

if the weather allows

The weekend's sporting action begins with Newark Amateur Boxing Clubs first show of the new year. The evening is the ideal opportunity to showcase the young talent at Suggy's Gym, watch and for Sam Hardy and Alfie Briggs-Price. (Farndon Village Hall 7.00pm, ticket only)

After last weekend's frozen pitches our footballers will be looking forward to a full fixture list;

Not for the first time this year both Flowserve and Newark Town are both scheduled to have home fixtures. Mid table Graham St Prims play their first ever match at Lowfields and with "the works" still smarting after that first home defeat for two years they will hopefully be in for a torrid afternoon. Flowserve's big rivals at the top of the EMCL are Selston and they have a tricky home match against Clifton, another interesting day in the race for the title. (kick off 3.00pm Lowfields).

Newark Town's last match was three weeks ago and it produced a first away victory for fifteen months, the question is can they build on that success with a home match against a Dinnington Town that are always hard to break down. (kick off 3.00pm Station Road).

it's cup Quarter Final time for our two local sides in the Notts Senior League. Southwell City travel to sixth placed Cavaliers while its a mid table battle at Orston where Aslockton entertain Wollaton. (kick off for the Minstermen 3.00pmat the Forest while it's an early start at Orston 1.30pm)

To the Notts Youth League and out three sides should all be back in action, leaders Long Bennington travel to Mansfield to play Manor, Newark Town entertain Skegby at Devon Park and Farndon host Chesterfield. This could all change if the league decide to play the Cup quarter final between Farndon and Skegby that fell foul of last week's weather. (kick off for all these matches 10.30, Newark at Devon Park and Farndon at The Magnus)

Sunday see's RHP Colts play Caythorpe in the Mid Lincs Youth League. (kick off 2.15pm Sports Village)

Hockey is another sport that is hoping for a full fixture list and last week. Among the highlights the Ladies Ones travel to Kettering, the Twos are off to Mansfield to plat North Notts and the Men's Ones are a home to Chesterfield (push 3.30pm at The Magnus).

Jaguars Wheelchair Basketball Club have an away day at the Manchester Mavericks while just down the road Ed Howlett is at the Merseyside Open.

Sunday will see the last round of the Notts Junior Mini League with Joseph Monk hoping to claim a medal while the Rugby Clubs under 16's will be hoping to progress in the NLD Cup at the expense of Paviors.

Last weekends postponed Lincs County Cup Semi-Final between Collingham and Cleethorpes under eighteens is now scheduled to take place on Sunday at Station Road. (10.45am kick offj
