Tri Club become Outlaws

Five go to Thoresby

This weekend the Outlaw X OSB 70.3 mile event came to Thoresby Park for the very first time and five members of Newark Triathlon Club were up before the sun to rise to the challenge and join a field of over 1100 competitors.

First came the chilly 1.2 mile open water lake swim, followed by the 56 mile undulating bike course, and finished off with a challenging 13.1 mile run. Mother nature did her best to make this event even tougher with torrential down pours followed by high temperatures but all 5 dug deep and produced some great finishes.

Tom Marshall lead our boys home with a time of 04:36:06 finishing 1st in his age catagory and 16th overall. Next came Dave Tilley in 04:55:16 finishing 9th in his age catagory. Dylan Thomas, competing for the first time at this distance managed an impressive 05:32:38.   Then with a new PB came Jason Cobb with 05:49:17, closely followed by Dan Marshall with 05:50:16. Fellow members were out in force despite the rain to support, with some even braving the weather and making the rather wet journey on their bikes to cheers the boys over the line. This event will definitely be on the calendar for next year.

Further north Wyn Thomas tackled a wet Sheffield 10k in 51:06
Lorraine Fozzard earnt a new PB and first in age grading at Burgess Park Parkrun and Wendi Carrington took on the Equinox 24 hour event, completing 5 laps of the 10k trail course and no doubt now has her feet up..
