Festive events, shopping and family entertainment are at the heart of a new campaign encouraging visitors to turn a day out into an overnight stay.
Newark and Sherwood District Council has launched a Christmas tourism campaign encouraging visitors to spend a night in the district.
The campaign highlights seasonal attractions alongside local hotels, inns, guesthouses and self-catering accommodation.
Events featured include Newark’s Christmas lights switch-on, a seasonal tablescape workshop at Norwood Park and The Christmas Orchestra at St Mary Magdalene Church.
Family activities include Jack and the Beanstalk at Newark’s Palace Theatre and the arrival of Santa at Rufford Abbey Country Park.
Southwell’s Christmas late-night shopping and an indoor Christmas market at Clipstone Headstocks are also highlighted, along with festive dining and entertainment at Norwood Park and The Renaissance at Kelham Hall.
Councillor Claire Penny, the council’s portfolio holder for sustainable economic development, said the aim was to encourage people to stay longer and experience more of the district during the festive season.
The campaign also includes a competition to win a £100 Newark and Sherwood Gift Card.
Event details, accommodation information and competition entry are available on the Visit Newark and Sherwood Christmas website.
