Aspiring ballet dancers in Newark and the surrounding area will soon have the opportunity to develop their skills through a new specialist training programme launching in September 2027.
Aurelius Ballet will provide additional classical ballet training for students aged 9–18, offering opportunities for those wishing to take their dancing to a more advanced level.
The audition-based programme is being established by experienced ballet teacher Christina Phillips-Kelly, alongside internationally experienced dancer and choreographer Daniela Delerci.
Unlike a traditional dance school, Aurelius Ballet has been designed to complement existing tuition rather than replace it.
Explaining the approach, Christina said: “We're not asking them to leave the teachers and schools that have already invested in their training. Aurelius is there to add another layer – to challenge them, broaden their understanding and help them develop not only technically, but as artists.”
Christina has more than 25 years of experience in dance education. She qualified with the Royal Academy of Dance in 1998, is an Affiliate Teacher of The Royal Ballet School and has previously lectured at the University of Lincoln.
Working alongside Christina is Associate Artistic Director Daniela Delerci, an Italian dancer, choreographer and educator whose international career has included performing with English National Ballet.
Together, they hope to create an environment where aspiring performers can build on their existing skills and explore their potential.
Auditions are scheduled for February 2027, ahead of the programme's official launch the following September.
